Beyond the Frame: NCW
The Wenatchee River Salmon Festival is September 20-22 at the Leavenworth Fish Hatchery. The three day Salmon Fest event is produced by many partners, agencies, schools, local communities, and fish and wildlife outdoor enthusiasts. It is a highly supported event for all ages. The first two days are created for school children (1,500 per day); and the weekend day opens its gates for a day of free family fun with multi-generational learning, connecting people with natural resource fun and education. Throughout the three days, attendance can reach 10,000. A major feature is a living Native American Village, cultural exchanges and nature art connections, live animals (birds of prey and reptile programs), and outdoor recreation activities tying it all together.
Beyond the Frame will host a community engagement opportunity throughout the entire festival; discussing racial identity with hundreds for school children on Thursday and Friday, and then welcoming all community members on Saturday, September 22. On family day our booth welcomes everyone to come meet and make art with nationally renowned Native artist, Steven Paul Judd. From 10:00am-5:00pm, Steven will be working with community members of all ages and abilities to create a beautiful community art piece -don't miss it!
Steven will also be visiting the Methow Valley and presenting in a public forum on Thursday, September 20. Follow this link, to watch for more details.
